Zannier Île de Bendor

Cote d’Azur

Opening in May 2026, Zannier Île de Bendor is set to become one of the Côte d’Azur’s most exciting new addresses, a must for travellers seeking a luxury holiday to France. Set on one of the French Riviera’s most famous private islands just 300 metres off the coast of Bandol, this stylish retreat brings together three distinct atmospheres across its Delos, Soukana and Madrague houses - from 1960s Riviera glamour to tranquil wellness spaces and rustic Provençal charm. Set across a seven-hectare island, the hotel is conceived more as a small Provençal village than a traditional resort. Originally developed in the 1950s by Paul Ricard as a place for art, culture and social life, the island has been reimagined by Zannier Hotels with a focus on preserving its original spirit while introducing new spaces, including a 1,200 sqm wellness centre. The island is entirely walkable and car-free, with everything within easy reach of the harbour.

Accommodation

The 93 rooms and suites are spread across three distinct areas of the island. Delos sits closest to the harbour and carries a more classic Riviera feel, with a livelier atmosphere and a more social setting around the pool and waterfront. Soukana is set slightly apart, closer to the wellness centre and gardens, and is quieter in tone, with more focus on space and outdoor living. The five Madrague Houses, originally fishermen’s homes, offer a more private, residential-style option with gardens. Each is set up as a duplex with separate living space and is best suited to couples or small families travelling with a young child.

Food & Drink

Dining is spread across the island, with three restaurants, four bars, a café and a crêperie. The approach is varied rather than formal, with different spaces suited to different times of day. Nonna Bazaar brings a more sociable, sharing-style approach to Mediterranean cooking, while other restaurants focus on seafood and seasonal Provençal ingredients. A harbour café and crêperie offer more informal options, while bars and terraces become more active in the evenings.

Experiences

Life on Bendor moves between water and land. Guests can swim from the rocks or beaches, explore the coastline by boat, or spend time diving and sailing. On land, there are walking routes, sports and quieter spaces for yoga or rest. The island also maintains a strong connection to art and craft, with an artisan village where guests can visit studios or take part in workshops.

Children

Families are welcome. Soukana and the Madrague Houses are particularly well suited to those travelling with children, offering more space and access to outdoor areas. A kids club and supervised activities are available.

Sustainability

The redevelopment of Île de Bendor has focused on restoring existing buildings and preserving the island’s original structure. New additions have been designed to integrate with the landscape, while supporting local artisans and cultural programmes.

Best Time to Visit

The hotel operates seasonally from May to October. July and August are the busiest months, while May, June and September offer warm weather with a more relaxed pace.

How to Get There

Île de Bendor is located just 300 metres from Bandol. A regular shuttle boat runs from the harbour every 30 minutes, with a crossing time of around 7 minutes. The nearest airports are Toulon Hyères (around 55 minutes), Marseille (around 1 hour), and Nice (around 1 hour 50 minutes).
